Systems Society of India (SSI) being a ‘professional body’ of distinguished Engineers and Scientists from Engineering and Science Profession promotes the advancement and practice of systems approach to engineering, technology and social systems. One of the objectives of the society is to recognize the contributions made by individual in research and application in the areas of systems science and engineering such as Control Systems, Aerospace Systems, large scale system developments etc. The following awards are given by SSI at the National Systems Conference held every year.

1. National Systems Gold Medal
National Systems Gold Medal is the highest award instituted by Systems Society of India. This is presented every year during National Systems Conference to an eminent person who has made outstanding lifetime contribution to Systems Science & Engineering. The Systems Gold Medal was originally sponsored by Prof.R.Subbayyan, Former Vice Chancellor of Bharathiar University till 2002.The National Systems gold Medal has since been sponsored by Systems Society of India. The Gold Medal along with the citation is customarily given during the Inaugural ceremony of the National Systems Conference held every year.

2. Young Scientist Award for Systems Theory
SSI has introduced Young Scientist Award for Systems Theory to honor the young Scientists and Engineers below the age of 40 who has made significant contribution in the area of System Science & Engineering. This award carries a gold Medal and is sponsored by System Society of India, Thiruvanathapuram chapter. The first award was presented during Inaugural function of NSC-2004 on December 16,2004 at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Deemed University of Vellore, Tamilnadu.

3. Young Scientist Award for Systems Application
SSI has introduced Young Scientist Award for Systems Theory to honor the young Scientists and Engineers below the age of 40 who has made significant contribution in the area of Application of System Science & Engineering. This award carries a gold Medal and is sponsored by System Society of India, Thiruvanathapuram chapter from the year 2007. The first award was presented during Inaugural function of NSC-2007 on December 14,2007 at Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal, Karnataka.

4. RajKumar Varshney Award for lifetime contribution to Systems theory
The Raj Kumar Varshney Award in Systems Theory has been established by Systems society of India in conjunction with the Varshney family “for exceptional contributions to systems science, application, and technology.
This award is named in honor of Dr.Raj Kumar Varshney, the founding Secretary of the Systems Society of India, who made contributions in the field of systems research spanning applications areas in plant science, epidemiology, and agricultural economics.
In the evaluation process, the following criteria are considered: scholarship, leadership, and outreach. The scope of contribution includes all of systems science.
The award carried a cash prize of Rs.10000/- and citation for notable and outstanding contributions in the areas of Systems Science till 2007. The cash award has been converted to a Gold Medal and citation from the year 2007. It is presented annually at the National systems Conference.

5. SSI Vikram Award for outstanding contribution to real life systems of National importance
The 'SSI Vikram Award' has been instituted by System Society of India, Thiruvananthapuram Chapter in 2008 by creating a corpus fund for real life systems of National importance having relevance to societal application.
The award is meant for a person in the age group of 40yrs-55yrs who has provided outstanding leadership in developing real life systems of National importance. The award covers the areas of Engineering/Sciences, Medicine, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
In the evaluation process, the following criteria are considered: the system under consideration should be of National importance and should have direct application to societal need. The person being considered for award should have demonstrated outstanding leadership.
The award carries a gold medal and a citation. The award is going to be presented annually at the National Systems Conference starting from NSC-2008.
